A few of the rofessional developments and workshops that have greatly influenced my classroom are Gretchen Bernabei and Literacy Lab training at Harding University.
I am proud to be joining Paris ISD for the 2019-2020 school year. I will be teaching 8th grade English Language Arts.
I began teaching in 2000 and previously worked as a juvenile case manager and a foster care case manager. Teaching is much more than a career for me. Teachers shoulder tremendious responsibility, but along with that, we are afforded the opportunity to assist and encourage young people to rise to great challenges, to achieve personal and educational goals, and to set their sights on becoming the best versions of themselves for the future. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their personal and educational growth.
Most of my family lives in the Paris area, and many have been or are educators. My mother retired from a long teaching career at North Lamar. My stepfather was a school principal at North Lamar. I have a brother who teaches in Seattle, Washington, and a sister who teaches in Honey Grove. My son-in-law and daughter, Devon and Jaymi, live in Paris, and I have a son who currently resides on a military base in Maryland.
Welcome to my 8th grade English Language Arts Web Page! My name is Andrea Garrett, and I am beginning my 19th year of teaching.
